If you end up sat next to the boring one at the Christmas party then these little nuggets may help get conversation started.
1. Ellie Goulding to spend Christmas helping the homeless
In case you need another reason love Ellie Goulding here it is, she’s going to be spending her Christmas day at a homeless shelter dishing out dinners.
The 27-year-old will spend the whole day at her local shelter and apparently it won’t for the first time. She said: “I’ve done it for a few years. It’s fun and part of the reason I run my gigs.
“It’s not just people who are homeless in the shelters but also those who are lonely and don’t have someone to spend the time with.
“It’s so scary because it happens so quickly and to anyone. It could be any of us.”
2. Random man gives random woman £200 for no apparent reason.
Kayleigh Moran was out with her daughter, Daisy, when a random man came up to her and handed her an envelope stuffed with cash.
He told her not to open the package until he was out of sight before vanishing into the crowds in Manchester.
When she opened it there was £200 and a note that said: ‘Happy Christmas’.
She said: “I just couldn’t believe it – I was gobsmacked. I can’t believe anyone could be that nice.”
We were going to ask why that never happens to us, but if somebody gave us an envelope and ran off we’d probably be thinking anthrax.
3. Gogglebox family dropped because dad is running for UKIP
Gogglebox have dropped the Michael family from the show after dad Andrew revealed he is standing as a UKIP candidate.
The Michaels won’t be returning for the next series of the popular Channel 4 programme.
Channel 4 told BBC’s Newsbeat: ‘Mr Michael has confirmed his proposed candidacy as a UKIP MP in Hastings and Rye. Sadly any Gogglebox cast member who becomes a candidate for a political party will have to step down from their involvement in Gogglebox.’
4. Artist creates grim flesh-coloured human hair shoes
Still struggling for Christmas present ideas? At least this one would be remembered. These flesh-coloured 4-inch heel pumps have a silicone gel covering, through which wiry strands of human hair has been implanted.
Chinese artist Zhu Tian has created them in protest against the sexualisation of shoes. He has definitely been noticed, and in our deep search for positives we realised that it will probably stop the dog from eating your shoes.
5. The Wealdstone Raider for Christmas number one?
A campaign to get the Wealdstone Raider to number one for Christmas is gathering momentum after he shot from number 37 to 13 overnight.
We’re not saying that it would make us happy if the builder left a bitter taste in Simon Cowell’s mulled wine this Christmas, but if you want to download the charity single then you just click here
Here is his music video.
