Adam Hardiman, head chef at William IV pub, has shown his Christmas spirit by offering to make lunch for 100 homeless people, absolutely free.
The reaction from people online has been incredible, and Adam has been turning down a huge volume of offers to help. Instead of help, he is asking people to help by paying for someone in need to get to the pub for the free dinners.
The 30-year-old said: “I was having a quiet Sunday and I was fed up. I thought I would rather do this for people that really need it.”
“Anyone can end up on the street and I probably would be too if it wasn’t for my mum. She’s a hero.”
After putting it on Twitter it quickly went viral. The sign outside the pub in Islington, north London, read: “We are cooking Christmas dinner for the homeless and hungry.”
“If you know anyone that you’d like to tell or bring in then please do. Whether they are homeless friends for people just struggling. We are doing this because we can.”
Adam also encouraged others to get involved too. “I think the support we’ve had is amazing but it’s also kind of sad. Everybody should be doing this every day of the year. It shouldn’t a surprise when we do it.”
“Anyone in London who knows a homeless person should get them a taxi and send them here on Sunday.”
The employees have happily jumped on board and will serve a full turkey roast with all the trimmings between 12-3pm.
