We can all dream, right?
This is the Tikehau Atoll in French Polynesia. Around 300 people permanently live here, with many of the residents working on the Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort.
Tiekehau is a coral atoll, a ring shaped coral reef including a coral rim that encircles a lagoon.
On a visit in 1987 Jacques Cousteau’s research group made a study of Tikehau’s lagoon and they discovered that it contains a greater variety of fish species than any other place in French Polynesia.
You may want to pop this on your ‘to do’ list.
The atoll’s lagoon is 27 km long and is mostly surrounded by a coral reef.
This is exactly the kind of place we imagine when we think of paradise. It has honeymoon written all over it.
