Jimmy Carr caused controversy by shocking the audience at the Q awards with his joke about Oscar Pistorious. He made a crack about Reeva Steenkamp, one day after Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years for shooting her dead in his bathroom.
He began by going on a rant about needing the toilet when there is a long queue, he added: “So frustrating. All I’m saying is I can see it from Oscar Pistorius’ point of view.”
Jimmy continued: “That’s not the controversial bit. Here it comes… I blame her.”
The room filled with awkward silence before he added: “If she hadn’t been in that disabled toilet none of this would have happened.”
As his joke was greeted with stunned silence he shouted: “It’s the f****** Q Awards, come on.”
Jimmy went on to present The Best Act In The World Today award to Kasabian before leaving the stage. We all know that he’s not one for mincing his words, but do you think this was a step too far from the comedian?
