Jay Z and Beyoncé get the carpet treatment pretty much everywhere, and rightly so, they are music power-houses at the forefront of their respective genres. This time, however, they have been forced to concede defeat after being outbid on a lavish Beverly Hills compound that was sold for $70 million.
Who would dare take on Jay Z and Beyoncé? Well, it turns out to be someone who’s been labelled as a bit of a nerd. Mark Persson created the hugely popular video game Minecraft and he has no shortage of funds after he sold it to Microsoft for $2.5 billion. Mark now has the distinction of having paid the highest price ever for a home in the 90210.
So, what does Mark get for his money? Take a look
Mark bought the impressive eight-bedroom home completely furnished with each of the 15 bathrooms equipped with Toto Neorest toilets at a price of $5,600 each (Still does the same job, just saying).
Also included in the sale was an 18-foot onyx dining room table for 24 with place settings by Roberto Cavalli at a cost of $3,700 each.
The impressive residence sits on 23,000 square feet and includes an attached 16-car garage.
Jay Z and Beyoncé had visited the property six times before losing out. Although we’re not sure how they were outbid as according to Forbes Celebrity 100 list, published in June, they pocketed $175 million between them in the previous 12 months.
