Just five days after the teaser was released on YouTube and shared instantly over the social world, the Red Bull studios at London Bridge hosted the exclusive launch of the GoPro Hero3 camera. The newest member of Team Extreme, Andrea, and I were amongst the crowd of adrenaline junkies and tech lovers at the event.
The latest range of the ‘World’s Most Versatile Camera’ is 30% smaller, 25% lighter than the Hero2, offers 4k video capture at 15fps and is wi-fi enabled. The Presentation was made by TV Presenter Ortis Deley from The Gadget Show, who was just as excited as everyone else to announce the specs of the latest piece of tech. “The GoPro HERO3 isn’t just one camera, it’s a range of three that people can strap to the side of their snowboards, motorbikes, surfboards and helmets.”
The three editions are White, Silver and Black. Here are the Hero3 Key Specs:
The Black Edition is the most advance GoPro ever, no expense was spared during its development, resulting in a GoPro that is so much smaller, lighter and 2x more powerful than previous models.
It is wearable and gear mountable, waterproof to 60m, capable of capturing ultra-wide 1440p 48fps, 1080p 60 fps and 720p 120 fps video and 12MP photos at a rate of 30 photos per second. With built-in Wi-Fi, GoPro App compatibility and the included Wi-Fi Remote make the HERO3: Black Edition all the more versatile. Ortis agreed ‘black is the coolest!’
I don’t think there is anything but the Go Pro at the top of everyone’s Christmas list this year. There is nothing more versatile, which can record such incredibly beautiful images at an affordable price than this camera. If your passionate about extreme sports, and want a ‘go anywhere’ type camera, this was made for you. There is a never ending range of accessories and mounting equipment for every scenario. Hopefully santa has me on his good list this year, as I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these. If you need more convincing, check out the Hero3 video from GoPro:
