The Ed Sheeran and Noel Gallagher back and forth appears to be over after the two settled their differences, but not before Ed had one last little dig at the former Oasis guitarist.
It all started when Noel went on a bit of a rant to NME, saying, “I don’t think I can live in a world where [Sheeran playing Wembley] is even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a f**king guitar it seems subversive, but it’s f**king not.”
The interview didn’t go unnoticed by Ed, and he soon retorted with a typically polite comeback.
Now, Ed has revealed that he sent a cheeky text to Gallagher inviting him along to one of the sold-out July shows that wound Noel up so much.
“He’s always going to be the guy who’s outspoken,” Ed told Radio 2. “I wasn’t offended. I found it quite cool to be in his interview. I texted him because I have his number and asked him if he’d like some tickets. He wrote back, ‘You cheeky so and so. My daughter would love some.”
You can almost hear Noel groaning as he read the text.
Ed also spoke about how he tries to keep his feet on the ground. “I get a lot of stick from press and people but it’s good to get stick,” he said. “That’s why Americans go off the rails. Ego-wise you are risen and risen and risen. If you speak to anyone from Adele to Chris Martin, they would say they are grounded cos they get a hiding from the press.”
