Planes getting cancelled is nothing new, but planes getting cancelled because of a smelly poo isn’t something you’d expect to hear about. Until now.
Passengers had just taken off and were expecting to fly to Dubai when the pilot announced they were going back to Heathrow Airport because someone had dropped ‘a smelly poo in the toilet’. Imagine being the guy that has to deliver that message.
Reports suggest that the cabin crew unsuccessfully tried to fix the problem, but the flight was forced to turn around when the stench became unbearable for passengers.
Tory councilor Abhishek Sachdev told the Daily Mail, “About 10 minutes later he said you may have noticed there’s a quite pungent smell coming from one of the toilets. He said it was liquid faecal excrement, those are the words he used. He said it’s not a technical fault with the plane, and he was very adamant about that.”
The announcement was made 30 minutes after take-off when the seven-hour flight was over Belgium. Passengers were forced to wait 15 hours for the next flight, although British Airways did put them up in a hotel.
Our sympathy goes out to the passenger with the very dodgy stomach, kind of.
